2025 PNI Inter-studio Residency Report
Without a doubt, we would categorise our time at Black Church Print Studio as part of the 2025 PNI Inter-studio Residency as a massive success. Having access to the Risograph Printer and guidance through new techniques was incredibly beneficial to our collaborative project and has since had an influence on individual strands of our practices in development. Over our intense three weeks, we were able to meet our proposal aims and develop a full body of editioned works, as well as designing a run of narratives zine publications to accompany it and a small series of stand-alone works.
The facilities on hand, the space we were given on our booked dates and communication with Hazel around the whole process were exactly what we needed and made us feel very welcome within the space. Printing itself was a brilliant experience however it would have been only a fraction as beneficial or enjoyable without the guidance and great energy of technical manager, David McGinn, who not only made us feel welcome and supported but quite sad to leave when the time came.
I would highly recommend the experience to others in the future but would possibly highlight the existing drawback with regards to financial support, as the requirements of the exchange process (travel, materials and accommodation) began to add up very quickly.
